Junior Cricket

The Lullington Park junior section starts with children as young as 5 years old introducing them to game through cricket fundamentals, a series of fun activities which are later expanded into cricket specific skills through the coaching age groups.

From cricket fundamentals the youngest members progress to Kwik cricket usually around 7-9 years old with the opportunity to play softball cricket with Kwik cricket equipment on Friday evenings.

Children then progress to hardball cricket when they are ready, usually by the age of 10. Hardball games are available in U11’s, U13’s, U15’s and U17’s age groups, with children progressing from the latter groups into senior cricket.

Training for all juniors up to U15’s is ran on a Tuesday evening (6.30pm – 8pm) with sessions led in individual age groups by ECB qualified coaches. U17’s train with the senior sides on a Wednesday evening (6pm – 8pm).

The club is proud of its success rate of progressing junior players through the age groups to junior representative standard, whether it be District or County level, and runs a Junior Academy (on a separate night) for those players involved in this standard of cricket , those who are to attend trials or players making their way in senior cricket.

Lullington Park is able to boast four senior teams playing competitive league cricket on Saturdays and two teams playing Sunday league cricket with all teams fielding plenty of home grown talent who have learnt and developed their cricket through the junior coaching structure.
